Wang Yi Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade Vishnu Lutchmeenaraidoo of Mauritius
On May 18, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade Vishnu Lutchmeenaraidoo of Mauritius in Beijing, who was here for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) and for a visit to China.
Wang Yi said that the relationship between the two countries has embraced a rapid development and achieved remarkable outcomes from cooperation in various fields since China and Mauritius established diplomatic relationship 45 years ago. Mauritius is a natural extension of the “Belt and Road” route. China and Mauritius are obliged to take the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” as an opportunity to enlarge mutually beneficial cooperation in new areas on the basis of mutual trust. The Chinese side welcomes Mauritius to forge itself into a bridge and bond connecting China and Africa in the “Belt and Road” construction.
Vishnu Lutchmeenaraidoo congratulated on the realization of the “Belt and Road” initiative from a vision as well as the successful completion of the BRF. He expressed that Mauritius attaches importance to the cooperative relationship with China, hopes to, together with China, continue to understand and support each other on issues concerning respective core interests and major concerns and comprehensively deepen bilateral cooperation under the “Belt and Road” framework.
