Yu Zhengsheng Pays an Official Goodwill Visit to Pakistan

On April 6, 2017 local time, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Yu Zhengsheng paid an official goodwill visit to Pakistan from April 5 to 6 at the invitation of Chairman of the Senate Raza Rabbani of Pakistan, respectively met with President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi of Pakistan, and held talks with Chairman Raza Rabbani.
 

Yu Zhengsheng conveyed warm greetings of President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, and Chairman Zhang Dejiang to leaders of Pakistan.

During the meeting with Mamnoon Hussain, Yu Zhengsheng congratulated Pakistan on its 70th anniversary of independence and wished Pakistan a greater success in national construction. Yu Zhengsheng said that China and Pakistan are the closest friends whose friendship has stood the test of international vicissitudes, becoming even deeper and newer in spite of time. In 2015, when President Xi Jinping visited Pakistan, the leaders of both countries lifted bilateral relations to the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, charting the course for the development of China-Pakistan relations. The two sides should continuously implement the consensus reached by the two leaders, maintain close high-level exchanges, enhance strategic communication and coordination, firmly support each other on issues concerning each other's major interests, constantly push forward all-round cooperation in all fields, and jointly construct the "Belt and Road", so as to constantly elevate China-Pakistan relations into new highs.
 

Mamnoon Hussain expressed that Pakistan and China enjoy time-honored friendship and always understand, trust and support each other. The two sides have gained fruitful achievements from cooperation in all fields, which brings benefits to the two countries and the two peoples as well as plays a positive role in promoting regional peace and development. Pakistan firmly supports China in protecting its core and major interests and is willing to join hands with China to constantly push forward the bilateral all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
 

When meeting with Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Yu Zhengheng said that in the past two years, China-Pakistan relations have been constantly boosted and the bilateral practical cooperation has been constantly deepened. The construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has gained significant progress with full implementation of a series of major projects, showing that international cooperation under the "Belt and Road" initiative has yielded fruitful results. The two sides should continue to push forward the construction of the CPEC to further develop bilateral cooperation in the fields such as electricity, transportation, ports, and processing industry and step up cooperation in anti-terrorism, defense, and security, so as to forge the community of shared destiny between China and Pakistan and constantly enrich the connotation of China-Pakistan relations.
 

Nawaz Sharif stated that Pakistan and China are close friends, and developing the relations with China is the corner stone of Pakistan's diplomatic policy. Pakistan is willing to join hands with China to accelerate the construction of the CPEC, well implement related major projects, deepen the cooperation in energy, infrastructure, and trade, jointly safeguard regional security and stability, and enhance coordination in international affairs.
 

During his talks with Raza Rabbani, Yu Zhengsheng said that China and Pakistan are good neighbors, good partners, good friends and good brothers. The CPPCC is willing to strengthen exchanges with the Senate of Pakistan, vigorously promote the exchanges and cooperation in areas like science and technology, culture, education, health and sports, and make positive contributions to bilateral economic and social development as well as the friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
 

Raza Rabbani noted that pushing forward the in-depth development of Pakistan-China relations is beneficial for regional stability and prosperity, and will promote the common cause of Asian people. The Senate of Pakistan is willing to strengthen friendly exchanges with the CPPCC to jointly promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries and the mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields.

Before the talks, Yu Zhengsheng laid a wreath at the monument at the parliament house lawn of Pakistan.

In his meeting with Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Yu Zhengsheng said that, the CPPCC is willing to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the National Assembly of Pakistan, and encourage the political parties and all sectors of the two countries to offer advices and suggestions on improving bilateral cooperation so as to create a better public opinion foundation for the development of bilateral relations.
 

Murtaza Javed Abbasi expressed that, it is the consensus reached by all parties of Pakistan to enhance the Pakistan-China relations. The National Assembly of Pakistan will continue to promote all parties and all walks of life of Pakistan to develop the friendly exchanges with China and deepen the bilateral practical cooperation.
 

Yu Zhengzheng also had talks with representatives from Chinese-funded enterprises in Pakistan and asked them to work with high sense of responsibility and mission, abide by local laws and regulations, respect local customs, carry forward our friendship with Pakistan to realize mutual benefit and win-win results and make contributions to the economic development of Pakistan.

Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC and Chairman of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League Lin Wenyi, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the National Committee of the CPPCC Zhang Qingli were present at the above activities.
