King Norodom Sihamoni and Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia Respectively Meet with Yang Jiechi

On April 28, 2017, King Norodom Sihamoni and Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia respectively met with State Councilor Yang Jiechi in Phnom Penh.
 

Yang Jiechi firstly conveyed President Xi Jinping's and Premier Li Keqiang's warm greetings and best wishes to leaders of Cambodia. Yang Jiechi expressed that China-Cambodia friendship becomes even firmer and thrives as time goes by as it was personally initiated and meticulously fostered by the older generations of Chinese leaders and King Father Norodom Sihanouk. President Xi Jinping and King Norodom Sihamoni exchanged visits last year, which is of landmark significance to push forward the development of bilateral relations, and charts the course for the development of bilateral relations in the next period. Highly appraising Cambodia's active support in conducting cooperation with China under the "Belt and Road" framework, the Chinese side expects Prime Minister Hun Sen to visit China in mid-May and attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. China stands ready to, together with Cambodia, speed up the integration between the "Belt and Road" initiative and Cambodia's development strategies, and well implement a series of plans and projects including production capacity cooperation. China supports Chinese enterprises to continuously well build and operate the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, participate in such connectivity projects as highways, airports and ports, and create new highlight of mutually beneficial cooperation. China is willing to continuously help Cambodia to speed up the implementation of projects that can benefit people, including projects on water conservancy and medical treatment, so as to earnestly benefit the Cambodian people. China encourages more Chinese tourists to travel to Cambodia, in a bid to expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges and consolidate the public opinion foundation of bilateral friendship. China stands ready to make joint efforts with Cambodia to advance the further development of China-Cambodia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
 

Norodom Sihamoni expressed that as the most intimate friends, Cambodia and China enjoy a long-term friendship and smooth development of mutually beneficial cooperation. President Xi Jinping's state visit to Cambodia last year was fairly successful. The Cambodian side thanks China for its long-term and precious support and assistance. King Father Norodom Sihanouk and the older generations of Chinese leaders initiated the road of bilateral friendship. He and the Cambodian royal family are happy to see that bilateral friendly cooperation has been constantly developed. The country stands ready to continuously carry forward the traditional friendship between the two sides, and constantly push forward bilateral relations for more fruitful outcomes.

Hun Sen congratulated on the success of the fourth meeting of Cambodia-China inter-government coordination committee, and expressed that the two countries share fairly special relations and unbreakable political mutual trust. To develop its relations with China is the priority of Cambodia's foreign policy. He expects to elevate Cambodia-China cooperation to new highs through his visit to China in May. The "Belt and Road" initiative is of great historical significance, which will surely advance regional connectivity and the construction of regional integration, and bring enormous opportunities to the development of countries in the region. The Cambodian side hopes to realize better and faster development of its economy through further deepening bilateral practical cooperation under the "Belt and Road" framework
