On May 12, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Minister of Foreign Affairs Workneh Gebeyehu of Ethiopia, who accompanied Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn of Ethiopia to China for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
Speaking positively of China-Ethiopia relations, both sides agreed to enhance communication and coordination in bilateral and international affairs, understand and support each other on issues concerning respective core interests and major concerns, and safeguard the common interests of both countries and developing countries.
